The UK documentary Dispatches: Terror in Mumbai got some horrific leaked audio intercepts of the gunmen. At 4:00, the 11/26 attackers calmly murder a Chabad House hostage in front of a phone so their Pakistani handlers can listen. The whole operation is conducted in relaxed Urdu and Punjabi.

I watched it and have rarely been so horrified. The details of the killing will make you weep. Children, women and men shot in cold blood. I hope this leads to an end to the denial by certain parties.

No, you’ll just get some more thought gymnastics of the morally dubious kind.

That was some amazing audio. I need to watch the first 5 parts now.
This video shows that 11/26 was not a terrorist attack but a commando raid from a sophisticated (but rogue and terroristy) army.
I mean these “terrorists” had to be coached even what to say when the government calls !!!
Shocking !!!!
On second thought, not shocking …. just proof of what we knew already.
It is the relaxed tone of the voice and the blatant playing to the media (for eg: the directions to set fire to the media-watched side of the Taj) that is most unsettling - almost unreal!
@RC: ‘Proof’ hardly matters in international relations. It is pretty much ‘jiski laathi uski bhains’! We have to learn to wield a bigger stick. I do seriously doubt though whether we even have a stick big enough right now!

Just want to confirm:

PS any one remebers Fareed Zakarias first response.
The MADARCHOD initialy bought(did not discount/handicap) the deccan mujahhiddin bit.
Something similar to what Amardeep Singh of Manish’s former blog did too when mumbai train blasts happened.
immidiately jumped on a prelim report in SM on that.

manish, is it OK to call Amardeep Singh ‘madarchod’ and personally abuse him like that, just because he reported all the news and claims of responsibility in the fog after the event? Sannuki obviously has a moronic chip on his shoulder. Amardeep was scrupulous in his reporting of the event. He has never flinched on putting the blame on where it lies, even receiving criticism for being forthright in using terms like ‘Islamofascism’ to describe it.
Sannukki’s abuse is repulsive and idiotic.

Joolz you are an illiterate, read who i called a madarchod.
And I would argue Amardeep doesn’t put the blame where it belongs.
Just read his bit on the austrian murderers bit. Even funnier bit that provides links to his puttha thought process when he went looking for answers at Langar Hall.

What was also surprising to me how subservient the foot-soldiers were to their handlers.
It’s jaw-dropping to hear the poor, unsophisticated and of below-average intelligence foot-soldiers being cynically manipulated by their richer, fluent-english-speaking handlers.
I’m not sure what concrete steps the indian govt can take really. Even if pakistan bans LET, I’m sure they can re-group under different names and guises. But what this audio is really valuable for is in changing hearts and minds. I’d hope that the vast majority of pakistanis will hear these tapes and be appalled.

@Ashwin: No one ought to buy the “unsophisticated and of below-average intelligence foot-soldiers” description.
That doesnt describe the terrorist. Its obvious that these foot soldiers fellow had above average intelligence.

Doubt it. Jemima Khan In London Times. “She [a famous model/actress] tells us that Indians are all “cry babies” and Muslims would do better to be cry babies, too, and that way gain equal levels of sympathy abroad.”
Haven’t read much of Khan’s journalism to form an opinion, but that quote stood out, because I keep reading and hearing variations of this theme all the time from the richer, fluent-english-speaking Pakistanis.

Sannuki, if you read that post at all carefully, you would have noticed that I disagreed with the blogger at the Langar Hall regarding factionalism in the Sikh community. His attitude was, “if we were more rigorous Sikhs, who really disavowed caste, we wouldn’t have Ravidasias and Dera Sach Khand.” My response was that that’s unrealistic and naive.
I am not sure what you are talking about vis a vis Deccan Mujahideen. If you have a link to the post you’re thinking of, that would clarify things.
Still, it’s not clear what your premise is. Do you really think that India doesn’t have its own, domestic terrorist infrastructure? Some attacks, like 11/26, have been directly Pakistan supported; I don’t recall doubting that, and if I did, I was wrong. But it would be really foolish if Indian security were thinking as you apparently are, and disregarding evidence of domestic terrorist groups, or presuming that domestic Indian terrorists don’t have the means or the brains to put together deadly bombs. It’s not that hard.
