Dancing on the ‘Daily Show’

Reena Shah of My Pet Dragon is one of the background dancers in this Daily Show clip, where Dr. Aasif Mandvi diagnoses a skinny white guy with an incurable disease: he’s a liberal.

Stephen Colbert played the ‘Benny Lava’ net.meme and pondered how great it would be if India would invade a country unrelated to 11/26, like say New Zealand (thanks, Rahul):

I guess tonight was a 2-for-2 special on Indian dancing. Colbert had a segment of Kaloori Vaanil intercut with marching orcs to demonstrate how fabulous an Indian attack of an unrelated country like New Zealand would be the appropriate response for the Bombay terrorist attacks.

Poor Deva, if only Colbert knew!

    Go Reenerz!!

    Aasif wasn’t half bad either.

The video merely confirms the stereotype that Indians are saddled with: inarticulate and with sparkling to say.
Tilting your head from side to side and smiling silly is hardly going to get attention and win respect.
And can’t Mandvi stop acting the clown for once and say something thought provoking?

Manish, one of the inserts on this post is consistently crashing my Firefox (3.0.4) browser on Ubuntu Hardy (8.0.4). I don’t think it is an inherent issue with Hulu javascript code because the post on “Mumbai Attackers identified” (which is also on Sepia) does not crash the browser.

P.S: Just checked and it looks like that this post inserts javascript/flash code from Comedy Central, not Hulu, so that site seems to be the culprit.

Also, I don’t even need to play either clip. Just loading the UB home page is guaranteed to crash my browser.

    Perhaps a Linux Flash problem?

    Perhaps a Linux Flash problem?

Almost certainly. The Linux Flash implementation is hideously buggy, however the Comedy Central site is the only one I have run across yet that reliably crashes my browser. And even without my playing the clip.

I guess there isn’t much of an incentive for you to fix the site for your sole Linux user, it is just aggravating to have to jump through hoops. Well, maybe in a few days, this post will go off the front page and things will be better :)
