Neal Katyal pawns Stephen Colbert

Georgetown law prof Neal Katyal, a Guantánamo Bay critic and winner of the case Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, goes on the Colbert Report. He pulls out a crude fake of Stephen Colbert sitting cross-legged next to Osama bin Laden (thanks, brimful). Colbert looks nonplussed.

Thanks manish! I was waiting for the youtube clip of this interview since I missed the original broadcast.

(sigh) It was so excellent! At first, I thought Katyal was going to be one of those guests that is annoyed by Colbert’s antics, but when he pulled the doctored picture out- swoontastic.

Also, his response to Colbert giving him grief on working on the Al Gore election case was adorably self-deprecating. The dude is like the anti-Ponnoru.

what brimful said… i respected the man for his wit and brass through to that last question, but after that little bit of self-deprecation I really really like him as a guy.

colbert really is quick on his feet to pull out that bit about mel gibson’s dad tho’.
