Okay, da!
Three questions.
1. Is it somehow cooler to write “da” instead of “the” and “nd” instead of “and”?
2. If not, how difficult can it be to key in an extra letter?
3. What kind of twisted mind abbreviates words like "the" but spells out "illuminate" and "prosperous" in full?

Hehe - have you noticed how, in Delhi, even the aunties and uncles and general old folks have taken to this sort of spelling for SMS/instant messaging? I find it hilarious, though rather tedious after a while. What a waste of that good convent education, tsk.
Come now, Jabberwock, surely you’ve got Suchita Ghai’s book “Managing Text Messaging”, which has gems like:
“Happens LIZ in nt dng wot 1 LIKs bt Likng wot 1 doz.” (Happiness lies in not doing what one likes, but in liking what one does.)
“I c ** wn u Ks Me.” ( I see stars when you kiss me.)
“:-I” (I need to know if you love me.)
hunh?
I feel very old.
Ms. Ghai, a true human8arian, has the interests of those in insecure relationships at <3. On be1/2 of shaky coupledom worldwide, I thank her for developing a universal symbol that summarizes our feelings in a keystroke or 2. Precious 2nds will b sav8 :)
btw, happy diwali!
