The D’Archetypes
Check out a hilarious track called ‘Fresh Off the Boat’ by the D’Archetypes, a British Asian rap and spoken word group (thanks, Jana). Click ‘Fresh Off the Boat’ at top right.
It’s not the usual — it re-envisions shopkeepers crossing the dark waters, designing their future cornershops in posh, poncey British accents.
The D’Archetypes are rockin’ Mocha in Juhu at 8pm Friday, Sep. 8. I love Mocha; it’s a café chain dishing desserts and hookahs on comfy couches beneath Moroccan lamps:

Remember I said in my email I was due to dance at that Indian electronica thing? It was for Yam (half of D’Arches)!! Small world na. Yam, aka Nikesh (chap on the right), is a good mate. I’ll give him a call and tell him that now he’s on UB, he’s officially arrived.
Expect me to be there!
I’ve been to Mocha is ahmedabad and it was awesome! The hookahs there are amazing. Oh..I wish I was there! Seems like you are living it up in Bombay and that is insipiring.
D’Archetypes is awesome stuff. The Ek Dum 1st class track is pretty cool, too.
Yamboy & Goondaraj definitely are up to some unique stuff. You damn brits and your damn style. ;)
Bongsy– where the hell have you been??
I heart Yam Boy. I would like to heart Last Mango in Paris (the other darkie type), but he never comes out. Remarkably like Rohin in that respect. Although they mocked my documentary with an mp3 called Desperately Seeking Talvin, for which I shall never forgive them. ;)
