The rise of Kalpen
The Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj trailer is out.
Taj Mahal Badalandabad ([Kal] Penn) arrives at England’s prestigious Camford University… Things quickly turn sour… when Taj learns that he has been rejected by the exclusive campus fraternity, the Fox and Hounds [and its chief Pip]… Taj sweeps into The Barn, the oldest dorm on campus, and quickly transforms it and its lackluster members into [a] proud co-ed fraternity, the “Cock and Bulls.”
… the Cock and Bulls decide to compete in the University’s annual Hastings Cup… each house earns points for academic, athletic and social service achievement… The competition is fierce and complicated by Taj’s growing attraction for Charlotte, an upper-class, refined young woman, who is also Pip’s girlfriend. Like Beerfest, this sounds like a national parody, though with a Dickens reference. Lauren Cohan (Casanova) plays the love interest. There’s a funny IMDB thread with Brits complaining about stereotyping (and what do you think Taj Mahal Badalandabad is?):
This movie is going to insult Oxford, NOT the British. The “uppity posh 1900’s era accents, all wearing khaki slatts with pressed shirts and tweed sweaters,” does fit most who attended Oxford. Most people I know who attended Oxford need a nice kick in the balls…

Male porn star, not doing anything: Almost… almost… almost… there we are.
Female porn star: Jolly good…
[Also from Family Guy]
Englishman: I say, Jeremy, isn’t that Reginald B. Stifworth, the young upstart chap who’s been touting the merits of a united European commonwealth?
Jeremy: Why yes, I daresay it is.
Englishman: Oh, let’s get him.
[They drive up.]
Englishman: Oh Reginald… I disagree.
[They drive off.] [Link]
The movie’s out Dec. 1. Watch the trailer.
Here’s the classic scene from Van Wilder where Penn takes a bad ethnic stereotype and runs away with the movie (NSFW):
Also check out SM’s post last year.
Update: This version of the trailer is easier to watch.

Not as bad as I was expecting, but not very good, either. Lacks much edge or originality, even for a movie such as this.
