You've made Hasan's writing sound irresistible. Any idea where you can buy her books in the US?

It gets worse!

Apparently, “Luck By Chance” is looking like it’s going to be Excel’s first flop.

I can't speak for how the movie's doing in India, but it was sold out on Friday when I tried to get tickets here in Houston!

Ooooooooh! I'm intrigued. It's not every day that you hear Sigur Ros in movie trailers.

I just watched the movie last night so I'm kicked to see your review while the movie's on my mind. Great review btw!

And the fictional (?) band Chakravyuh growls some convincing Hindi thrash metal, which is always a challenge with so many unaspirated Hindi consonants.

I didn't get what you meant by this statement. If I'm not mistaken, Hindi has about 9 aspirated consonants versus about 5 in English.

Also, I didn't see the lead singer of Chakravyuh as being a villain so much as a plot device depicting Rampal's loyalty to Akhtar.

I love the concept! Thanks for posting about this.

The female lead of the movie gets Alzheimer’s ??

I'm not trying to lend credence to the movie's plot but technically, it is possible.

Also, why are lizards-on-the-wall overrepresented in movies about Alzheimer's?

I read Family Matters. Felt claustrophobic and slow, I like more energy either in language or plot.

I know what you mean about Family Matters but please try Tales from Firozsha Baag before you give up on him. His writing contains so much realism that sometimes it's depressing. But to me, his characters appear equally real and are thus very easy to empathize with.

On the flip side, writers whom I adore unreservedly: Rushdie, Chandra, Ondaatje, Roy, Pankaj Mishra…

Just curious, have you tried Rohinton Mistry?
